Tides of Colour

I have been experimenting with ways of creating imaginary landscapes with coloured dyes, dried leaves, petals and other small object from the natural world lit from both above and below using a large macro lens that can focus down to something the size of a fly’s head. The process includes a high degree of chance as the elements making up the image are shifting and changing shape in ways that cannot be entirely controlled. The use of movement allows one to capure the spontaneous and mutable nature of the ‘landscape’ that will never be repeated. That is one of the powers of photography, to distil a moment that is immediately in the past, will never be repeated and in the case of ‘the street’ will always be a window back in time.
